Celebrate is not a pure event app but a private photo cloud "for family, friends, and guests" by celebrate company GmbH – listed in the App Store under kartenmacherei, one of Germany's largest stationery brands. Since launching in 2019, the app has passed 2 million downloads. Photos are free and unlimited in original quality, albums are password-protected, and the servers are located in Germany. The business model rests less on the subscription than on print products: photo books, prints, and wall art can be ordered directly from the album.
For weddings and events, Celebrate is only partially built for the job: the official guest path requires installing the app, the QR code sits in the album menu rather than the onboarding flow, and experience features such as a live slideshow, photo challenges, or a guestbook are missing entirely. Video is premium-only per album – and videos are deleted once the subscription lapses.
