The Best Event & Wedding Photo-Sharing Apps 2026

Event photo-sharing apps collect every guest's photos in one place, usually via a QR code, without making each guest install an app. We tested seven providers for two weeks at real events: Mymories wins for most couples thanks to app-free guest upload, unlimited photos, and EU hosting for a one-time €9.99. weddies is the pick for the widest feature set and ISO 27001 privacy, FridaySnap for anyone who wants printed QR cards on the tables. Four questions decide it: do guests need an app, how long are photos stored, what is the one-time price, and where are the servers?

For most celebrations, Mymories is the right call: guests upload via QR code straight from the browser, with no app and no account, and the couple pays a one-time €9.99 for unlimited photos in 4K, 12 months of storage, and EU hosting. If you need the widest feature set, choose weddies; if you want printed QR cards on the tables, FridaySnap. Our ranking comes from two weeks of hands-on testing at a wedding with 80 guests, a birthday, and a family reunion.

How to choose the right event photo app

All seven apps solve the same core job – pooling many guests' photos in one place – but they differ on five points that decide the day-to-day experience.

Guest access without an app. This is the biggest lever. Five of the seven providers (Mymories, weddies, FridaySnap, MyMillionSnaps, Photo-Space) let guests upload via QR code or link straight from the browser, with no download. WedShoots and Celebrate, by contrast, require every guest to install an app, which costs you reach at any event – and Celebrate additionally hides the QR code in the album menu. With weddies, the link also comes with an album password, a small extra step compared with pure one-click QR solutions.

Storage duration. Almost no provider in this field stores photos forever. Mymories, FridaySnap, MyMillionSnaps, and Photo-Space each keep photos for 12 months (Mymories can be extended via upgrade). weddies offers 12 or 24 months. Celebrate stores photos free indefinitely but ties videos to an active subscription – once it lapses, they are deleted. Also check when the clock starts: FridaySnap counts from the 10th uploaded photo, MyMillionSnaps from the 20th. Download your album before the term ends.

Pricing model. Almost every paid provider uses a one-time purchase per event, not a subscription. The spread is wide: Mymories €9.99, MyMillionSnaps €29.95, Photo-Space €39, FridaySnap €49.99, weddies €59.99 (12 months). WedShoots is free but funds itself through The Knot Worldwide's vendor network. Celebrate is also free for photos but is the only provider that requires a subscription for video (€39.99/year per album). Make sure there is no download paywall at the end.

Privacy and server location. Relevant for events in the DACH region: Mymories uses EU hosting under GDPR, weddies uses German servers with ISO/IEC 27001 certification. FridaySnap, MyMillionSnaps, and Photo-Space advertise EU servers and GDPR compliance without a formal certification. Celebrate also advertises German servers and password-protected albums. WedShoots communicates neither server location nor GDPR details, the clear weak point in the comparison.

Extra features. This is where the wedding specialist parts ways with the all-rounder: live slideshow on the projector, photo games and challenges, guestbook, printed products. weddies covers the widest range with a live slideshow, DIY photo booth, and video guestbook; MyMillionSnaps stands out with more than 50 photo games; FridaySnap is the only one with printed QR cards and an acrylic stand. Celebrate is the only provider with direct photo book and print ordering via kartenmacherei. Mymories deliberately focuses on a low-friction core rather than wedding decor.

Which app fits which occasion?

Wedding. If you want the widest feature set and certified privacy, weddies is hard to beat – live slideshow, photo booth, and video guestbook cover the whole wedding journey. For couples who want to gamify the guest experience, MyMillionSnaps and its photo games are the cheaper alternative. If you want physical QR cards on every table, choose FridaySnap.

Birthday and family celebration. Here what matters most is that every guest joins in without a hurdle. Mymories is ideal for that: app-free QR upload, unlimited photos for €9.99, and the option to manage several occasions from one account. A heavy wedding feature set would be overkill here.

Trips and recurring events. If you run several albums in parallel or across the year, you benefit from the native app and multi-event approach of Mymories, including background upload while you're out. The other providers are more tightly tailored to a single wedding event.

Company party. For corporate events, app-free access and clean privacy count most. Mymories (EU hosting) and weddies (German servers, ISO 27001) are the obvious candidates; the heavily wedding-focused interfaces of the other apps fit less well.

The providers at a glance

  • Mymories: Best value, app-free guest upload plus a native app, EU hosting. It lacks a live slideshow and photo games (as of July 2026).
  • weddies: Widest feature set, German servers, ISO 27001 – but at €59.99 the most expensive core tier.
  • FridaySnap: The only full print bridge with QR cards and an acrylic stand, QR code in five minutes, but no native app.
  • MyMillionSnaps: Over 50 photo games and an AI wedding logo for €29.95; a very young company with no long track record.
  • Photo-Space: Cheapest paid album (€39) plus a separate wedding website with RSVP; reviews are on-site only.
  • Celebrate: Photos free and unlimited on German servers plus kartenmacherei photo book integration – but guests must install the app, video is subscription-only, and event features are missing.
  • WedShoots: Completely free and installed millions of times, but requires an app for every guest and offers no GDPR transparency.

Frequently asked questions

Do guests have to install an app to upload photos?

With five of the seven apps we tested, no. Mymories, weddies, FridaySnap, MyMillionSnaps, and Photo-Space let guests upload via QR code or link straight from the browser, with no download and usually no account. WedShoots and Celebrate require every guest to install an app, which in our experience noticeably lowers participation at events.

How long are the photos stored?

Hardly any app stores photos indefinitely. Mymories, FridaySnap, MyMillionSnaps, and Photo-Space each keep photos for 12 months, and Mymories can be extended via an upgrade. weddies offers 12 or 24 months depending on the tier. Celebrate keeps photos indefinitely but deletes videos once the subscription ends. Note that with some providers the term only starts from a certain photo. Download your album well before it expires.

Which photo-sharing app is the cheapest?

WedShoots is free, and so is Celebrate for photos, though both force guests to install an app. Among paid providers, Mymories is the cheapest at a one-time €9.99 for unlimited photos, followed by MyMillionSnaps (€29.95) and Photo-Space (€39). All paid apps are one-time purchases per event, not subscriptions, so there is no recurring fee.

Which app is best for a wedding?

For the widest feature set and certified privacy, weddies is the strongest wedding solution, with a live slideshow, DIY photo booth, and video guestbook. Budget-conscious couples who still want plenty of guest interaction do well with MyMillionSnaps and its photo games. For the smoothest, cheapest setup, Mymories is the pragmatic choice.

Where are the servers, and is it GDPR-compliant?

Mymories uses EU hosting under GDPR, while weddies uses German servers with ISO/IEC 27001 certification. FridaySnap, MyMillionSnaps, and Photo-Space advertise EU servers and GDPR compliance but without a formal certification. Celebrate advertises German servers and password-protected albums. WedShoots gives no clear information on either server location or GDPR, which is a drawback for privacy-sensitive events in Germany.

Can one app offer both app-free guest upload and a native app?

Yes, but only Mymories combines the two: guests upload via QR code in the browser with no download, while hosts can optionally use the native iOS or Android app with an upload queue and background upload. weddies also offers a native app but ties guest access to a link plus password rather than a pure one-click QR code.

Verdict

For the large majority of celebrations, Mymories strikes the best balance of price, frictionless guest access, and EU hosting. Anyone who needs the widest feature set and a certified privacy level pays more with weddies but gets the full wedding toolkit in return. FridaySnap adds printed QR cards to the digital access, and MyMillionSnaps adds creative photo games. Decide along the four core questions – required app install, storage duration, one-time price, and server location – and the app will fit your occasion.
